I live in the USA (or Canada). How can I get La Clandestine Absinthe?

For our customers in Europe and the rest of the world, we will be expanding our range of absinthes to include more hand-crafted specialities from the birthplace of absinth, including 25 cl bottles of Angélique, our "Veritable Verte Suisse."

Is absinthe a drug?

No. End of story. If you've come here looking for a "drug high," you're in the wrong place. Which doesn't mean that you should seek out another absinthe shop which promises or hints at a "drug high," and that has "high" prices to re-assure you! The only drug in absinthe is alcohol, so please don't over-do it: enjoy our absinthe in moderation.

Can I burn my absinthe?

Never!! Please do not burn swiss absinthe: your distiller will be very upset if you do that.  Although it can be very cold in the foothills of the Alps, we have never burnt absinthe here. Why burn an absinthe that tastes so good? They only do that in countries where they don't know about absinthe and where they burn to try to get rid of the bad flavour of "ersatz" absinthe.

Is absinthe illegal?

Absinthe is 100% legal in almost every country in the world where liquor is legal. In the USA, if you are of legal drinking age in your State, it is now legal to buy absinthe that has been approved by the USA authorities (note that the TTB approves other drink recipes and labels too, and not just absinthe).

Can I order safely from you?

Yes. We guarantee that your order will arrive safely .... or you get a replacement order or your money back. Once in a blue moon, any company will lose an order and very occasionally a bottle will break; maybe that will happen with us one day. But if it does, then it is replaced or refunded. From experience, we know that any problems are caused by incorrect addresses or failure to collect from your courier's local office. In cases like that, our normal terms and conditions come into play.

Where do you ship to?

It's easier to answer where we don't ship to. From end-August 2008, we do not ship directly to consumers in the USA or Canada.

We don't ship to Mars yet either, but we plan to be the first absinthe shipper who makes it there (the Sales Director is looking for another trip ...).

Note that it is your responsibility to check that it is OK for you to import absinthe into your country and that in placing an order, you agree responsibility for any local duties, taxes, etc: we cannot always keep up with local laws and taxes in Mesopotamia etc.        

How many bottles can I order?

As many as you want! In practice, within the EU, we suggest no more than six bottles in each order and will split any larger order into packs of six or fewer bottles. Outside the EU, we will normally split any larger orders into packs of four or fewer bottles and will ship the packs on separate dates to make things a little easier for the poor delivery man!

When will I get my absinthe?

Within Europe, you should get your order within 8/9 business days of placing your order. We aim to ship within 24 hours of getting your order and you'll get an email when we've shipped with details allowing you to track your order online.
