Absinthe Effects

Absinthe Effects

If you have to come to this site in the hope that you will find all about the wonderful effects of absinthe, or if you think that if you buy Swiss absinthe, you will be able to fly over the Alps, then prepare for a certain level of disappointment. Also prepare for the fact that many people drink absinthe simply because ....

They ...

Like ...

The ...

Taste!

No hallucinations, no fantastic dreams, no insight into another reality? Just taste? Surely not, I hear the sceptics say.

Well, to be frank, absinthe has a high alcohol content, so that will have an effect. So please drink absinthe in moderation.

Some people talk about absinthe secondaries: what are these? Here I quote from that site for long-term absinthe lovers and for those starting their absinthe journey, the Wormwood Society :

"When indulged in moderation, the effect is one of pleasant alcohol intoxication accompanied by a lively mental clarity and uplifted mood, not unlike that of caffeine.  It is now commonly thought among absintheurs to be the result of the mixture of the herbs in question, not merely the wormwood."

Is this much more than the effect you will get from drinking some good aged single malts in the company of friends? Or the delightful effect from having one or two glasses of a fine champagne?

Maybe, or maybe not. But if you find other absinthe sites which promise you hallucinations, vivid dreams and the like, and if it all sounds to good to be true ... then maybe that is because it is ... too good to be true!

The best absinthe effect that we know of is the sheer pleasure of drinking a spirit with history and finding that you can enjoy simply because it tastes good. Isn't that the best possible reason to drink Swiss absinthe?
